The World, or a Giant Blueberry?

In Bangkok, Thailand, Myanmar's military government is under criticism for recruiting kids as young as ten for military service. The government is targeting young children because of "continued army expansion, high desertion rates and a lack of willing volunteers". Another reason for this young recruiting is that military and recruiting officials get paid for each new recruit even if they are below the minimum age or health standards. These actions will not go unheard, a U.S. rights group has recently filed charges against these actions. The Director of the Information Ministry in Myanmar claims that these accusations are completely false and are another example of biased reporting by Americans.

Hey U.S.A., What Are You Doing?

Some Christian Pastors in Tampa, Florida have recently decided to embrace the view of Scientology. It is said that in the lower class communities, the use of Scientology is very effective on addicts and people of that nature. The pastors still base this in Christianity and still preach Christianity, but believe that Scientology helps them in this battle. This is strange because Scientology is a cult that has no belief in God or Jesus at all. All they basically are doing is borrowing some of the ideals from Scientology to help there cause.

What's the State Up To?

Breaking news today, Berry Plastics has conclusively, along with Governor Mitch Daniels, decided to make Evansville, Indiana it's global headquarters. This global endeavor is estimated to bring around 250 new jobs to the booming town of Evansville. The Plastic company plans to invest over $20 million in the new facility. The state has given the company many grants and "performance-based tax credits" which will fund this company and keep it going.

Local Happenings in the News

Recently in Anderson Indiana, local student and fellow classmate had the opportunity to return for the third time to IHSAA state finals. She has won medals all three years and has recently won The Herald Bulletin’s All Area Player of the Year honor. This is very important because she is one of very few who have had this privilege and opportunity to represent Madison County and Highland High school in Women's Golf.
