In Bangkok, Thailand, Myanmar's military government is under criticism for recruiting kids as young as ten for military service. The government is targeting young children because of "continued army expansion, high desertion rates and a lack of willing volunteers". Another reason for this young recruiting is that military and recruiting officials get paid for each new recruit even if they are below the minimum age or health standards. These actions will not go unheard, a U.S. rights group has recently filed charges against these actions. The Director of the Information Ministry in Myanmar claims that these accusations are completely false and are another example of biased reporting by Americans.
